DIABETES

According to WHO data, Indonesia ranks fourth largest in number of patients with Diabetes Mellitus in the world. In the year 2000, there are an estimated 5.6 million people in Indonesia who have diabetes.
However, in 2006 estimated the number of diabetics in Indonesia increased sharply to 14 million people, of which only 50 percent are aware they have it and among only about 30 percent who come regularly for treatment.
A chronic disease which is accompanied hyperglycemia as a result of metabolic disorders, especially disorders of carbohydrate metabolism
Diabetes may cause :
·   Vascular: damage to the vascular system
·   Arteriosklerosis hyaline : hypertension
·   Diabetic nephropathy :  Diabetic microangiopathic
·   Diabetic nephropathy  : kidney failure
·   Diabetic Neuropathy
The understanding of diabetes should be done thoroughly, both risk factors, diagnosis and complications.
Purpose of DM control program in Indonesia is the implementation of risk factor control to reduce morbidity, disability and death caused by DM. DM control priority on early prevention through risk factor prevention of DM is promotive and preventive efforts by not ignoring curative and rehabilitative efforts are adequate.
Clinical signs of diabetes :
Polyuri. Polyuri is a state of ADH deficiency, that cause urinate many times.
Polidipsi
Polineuro Degeneration
Polifagi
Pussy (surpuration)
How to prevent diabetes :
1.   Maintain ideal body weight
2.   no smoking
3.   Physically active
4.   Eating properly
5.   avoid alcohol
